Repeat Prescriptions

We aim to issue your prescription within 3 working days but when demand is high this can take longer. To help us offer the most efficient service, please request your prescription 5 working days before you need the medication to avoid delay and avoid requesting early. We do not issue paper prescriptions - all prescriptions are issued electronically to your nominate pharmacy (you can specify this online or by calling reception) or via a code sent to your phone. Requests to print prescriptions will be declined.

Ordering a Repeat Prescription

When you order a prescription online, you can have it sent electronically to a pharmacy of your choice. This is called a nomination.

About pharmacists

As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:

  • coughs
  • colds
  • sore throats
  • tummy trouble
  • aches and pains

They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.

In Person

You can also collect a slip from our reception team and submit your request on paper but please be aware this will delay your request; this is because a member of our team will need to enter this online on your behalf before it reaches a clinican. We do not accept requests over the phone.

By Post

You can post your prescription slip or written request to us at the Practice.

If you're unable to collect your prescription from the surgery, please include a stamped, addressed envelope for return by post. Please allow at least seven days if requesting your medication by post.

Medication Reviews

Some medications require regular blood tests to monitor safety. We will contact you when these are due, please arrange the test promptly as we may be unable to issue your medication until we are sure it is safe to do so.

Medication Queries

Please get in touch with the surgery to raise a query about your medication.

Prescriptions Charges and Exemptions

Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs).

The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.

When going abroad you can take your NHS medications with you.

Please visit the NHS website for the latest Prescription Charges

These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
